For the past 15 years, I have been a road warrior for work and play. I have dialed in the art of traveling well.
And, here are my 100%, every-dang-time, MUSTS when traveling:
- Travel luggage (duh!) – I went for years – based on a fear of not having my things at the end of my trip – taking a carry-on, with essentials PLUS a checked bag. I used to meticulously put shampoos, etc. in smaller containers, to get through TSA. So gross, out-dated, EXPENSIVE and time consuming!
I am completely over that way of thinking now. Luggage does not typically get lost at the rate that you would expect anymore (ehh….except with that whole Southwest Airlines debacle over Christmas that one year). It’s never happened to me, and I am telling you, TYPICALLY, you AND your luggage will make it just fine. And if there is one thing less that I have to lug around and take care of then I am in!
I always check my bag now! Even if it is carry-on sized. But, I do need good, quality luggage. A decent quality, hard-sized travel carrier (with spinny-wheels is a MUST. And they will last you for years – trust me I know! This last one, has lasted me 6 years of hard travel. Also, grab an unusual color (blue, red, heck, go crazy orange!) so you can find it easier on the belt. Check this one out for size.
- Make-up Carrier – I pack this one everywhere I go, if overnight travel is involved. It can hold full shampoo/conditioner containers (saving me time with those silly little bottles, I was talking about earlier…also if you travel a lot, like me, those little bottles get sooo gross! blek) I throw almost all of my bathroom articles in here: deodorant, face wash, make-up, body-wash, etc. AND, if you grab one with a hook, like this one, it easily hangs on the bathroom door at your hotel, for easy use. I cannot recommend this make-up carrier enough.
- Sample sized products – I am a big Sephora fan. Huge. Like mega huge. I have the credit card and everything. Sephora provides samples with every purchase, sooooo….since I am always on the road….I alway grab samples of the shampoos, conditioners, face cleaners and moisturizers (if I don’t want to carry my bottles, or (ahem) if I am running out of room. I never buy sample sizes in stores, they are just way too pricey for what you get, but I love me some samples from Sephora!
- Travel Packing Cubes – A co-worker, who also travels, turned me onto these years ago, and I have never looked back! These are the greatest inventions for packing well that ever came about, and I do not know how I packed before these things existed! I love them so much! Please do yourself a favor and get some packing cubes.
- Headphones – If you would have asked me 5 years ago (during the AirPods phase) if headphones would make a come-back, I would have laughed and laughed and laughed! They’re soooo 80’s!! And yet, here we are….after dropping an ear bud in the airport (or worse, on the plane!) numerous times, I am over it. Are these expensive? Yep, but comparable to what I paid for my AirPods, and sooo, very worth it, with minimal chance of having to floor-scurry around under random strangers if you drop them! Noise canceling, fast charging, great sound. These are it ya’ll! These. Are. IT!
These Boise headphones were a gift from my guy, mine are chilled lilac, and they are sooo stinking, stonking cute! For a frequent traveler, this is the best gift ever!
